About
Amanda Petrozzini is a mixed media collage artist and creative wellness facilitator based in Portland, Maine. Her work centers on using art as a tool for healing, resilience, and overall well-being. With a process-driven, intuitive approach, Amanda creates space for emotional expression and self-care, especially in her roles as a parent and caregiver.
Through collaborations, community art projects, and her work at Double House Arts, Amanda is dedicated to sharing the benefits of creative wellness with others. She’s currently studying to become a trauma-informed expressive arts and somatics practitioner, deepening her commitment to art as a healing practice.
In 2020, Amanda started Owlcat Studio to highlight her collages, photography, and share creative wellness practices and tips. She’s passionate about making art accessible and encourages others to explore creativity using recycled and affordable materials. Her goal is to inspire others to experience the therapeutic power of art-making for their own well-being
She has worked at the intersection of art and mental wellness for several years in non-profit and gallery settings. Most recently, she helped launch the Double House Arts Collective - a studio arts program for artists with and without disabilities to create community and inclusive artistic opportunities.
Artist Statement:
Collage has always been a therapeutic practice for me, offering a sense of calm as I cut, arrange, and play with colors and textures. I love bringing brightness to everyday life through vibrant colors, using them to uplift my mood and create joy. I often create my own papers, reuse older artworks, and incorporate recycled materials from around the house. Receipts, envelopes, ticket stubs, and old book pages become integral to my process, encouraging resourcefulness. This practice not only aligns with my belief in reimagining discarded objects but also serves as a vital tool for relieving stress. For me, creating art is about more than the final product—it’s about using color and creativity to nourish the spirit and find balance in everyday life.
